Super Sunday

I call it that because we did so much today. We got up early this morming to arrive on hour early for the kids Surf Awareness class (by accident , of course). So we went to a cafe and had cofee ...well, baby caps for the kids and real coffee for me. Then the kids did their class, which involved Entoni and Tatiana getting on a surfboard for the VERY FIRST TIME. Very freakin cute. Mum took some pics, but she was prety far away from us so the pics are kinds distant. I had to go in the water with the kids when they surfed. I didnt know that, otherwise i would've put my bathers on this morning. So in i went, in my dress and all. Yes, i mean all the way in. Must have been an interesting sight, i'm sure.

Heres me and Entoni in the water. The waters just pulling back, but he was actually riding a little wave. Very cute.

After our morning at the beach, we came home and did some more decorating for the Halloween party. I downloaded some spooky tunes, and we rocked to those while destroying our house...

This is our Count Dracula. Needs a bit of work still....

And these are some cute little drink bottles i picked up for the kids the other day...

The kids put on a couple of "Trampolline Performances" for me (song and dances that they had created to perform on our large trampoline). Very funny and very cute. And when we were all worn out we watched The Corpes Bribe and Caspers Scare School on DVD.

And after decorating, i painted a mirror in my bedroom i had been planning to do for some time now. Heres the before pic (i'll show you the after pic when its done.)

And if your into Halloween too, i've been posting heaps of cool stuff over HERE....so come and check it out!

A weeekend @ Bribie Island

Ahhhhhhhh..... and what a relaxing weekend it was, even if it was only for 2 days. My brother and his wife are awesome..thanks for inviting us up guys!

The weather was perfect, that kinda gloomy, not too hot, not too cold beautiful beach weather (not hot sunshiny beach weather, but romantic-ly gloomy beach weather). When we first arrived Jamil took us 4wheel driving along the beach. The last time Jamil did that we got bogged, and even though it was 3 years ago, Tatiana still remembered and was a tiny bit nervous. Jamil let her have a tiny go at "driving" in his lap, and after that she became far more comfortable with the idea. We stopped along the beach to get out and play in the sand and relax for quite some time before heading back home. Doesn't sound like much, but it was just the perfect day, and the kids had a ball! And it was good picture weather, so we made sure to grab a few family pics :)

Then on Sunday, Nic, the kids and I headed down to a park to let the kids play before checking out the local (and very small) markets and then heading down to the waters edge for some more playing in the sand. Natalia *loved* the sand and kept herself happily busy crawling around and occasionally trying to eat handfulls of sand, lol.

Then aftrewards, Jamil took us all out on his new boat...which i cant believe i forgot to take a pic of, but it's pretty cool! He took us out to get his crab nets, and the kids got to help him. Kody didnt so muchlike going anywhere near the crabs...but entoni thought it was all pretty cool. We also found a starfish (and yes, we threw it back in). All the kids also got a turn in driving the boat, and on the way back , Jamil went 'really fast' to the kids sheer delight.

getting away for a day or 2

This weekend we are going up to Bribie Island to hand out with my brother and his family. It's only for one night, 2 days, but i'm really looking forward to the 2 days of nothing but relaxation and fun. No internet, no phone...no nothing. Ahhh....bliss.

So i'm making a mix CD for the drive, something both me and the kids can enjoy, plus little goodie bags for the kids with some snack a small toy and a book each. I've packed up the bikes, made lunches for tomorrow, brought some marshmelows and skewers for toasting.....Oh, and i cheated. I downloaded some episode of DIRT, just in case ;) You would think we were going away for a week, lol.

growing up

There are certain moments in my life as a mother that stay in my mind forever. Little random moments, that to anyone else would be just another moment in time, nothing notable and nothing special, but that too me will be lodged in my memory forever. They are moments when i realise that something has changed, that an era has ended, that my child has lost or gained something that will change them forever. Something so very small and something that only a mother would ever probably notice.

Like this one time, when Tatiana was only a toddler. She could walk (just barely) and couldn't talk at all yet, and was just so little still. Adam and i had ordered pizza for ourselves (the kids had already had there dinner) and we sat down to eat it as the kids played beside us. Tatiana , without me noticing, had managed to grab a slice and was just about to stuff it into her mouth when i noticed. I quickly grabbed it from her (as it was covered in chili) with a gentle "no no no honey, thats not for you". She stood in silence for a split second, registering what had happened i think, before bursting into tears. And these tears were different. They were sad, heart-wrenching tears. She was devastated....over pizza ?? And then it hit me. She had just experienced her first sense of loss. That feeling of wanting something, working to get it (crawling and walking all the way over too us, reaching up and grabbing the pizza) , getting it, and then having it be taken away from her. She had gone from being a baby who had just happily had everything handed to her, to a toddler that did something herself and had it taken away.

She was growing up. Experiencing new feelings and emotions.

As soon as i realised this i felt so bad (those tears were really heart-wrenching) so i grabbed her a piece of non-chillied pizza and let her sit there and quite happily attempt to eat ( or rather...just make a mess with) her piece of pizza. But i realised that in that moment, something about her had changed. Something so small that most wouldn't notice at all. A part of her baby innocence has gone as she had experienced this new feeling and she was starting to become not so baby-ish and much more toddler-ish.

And on Saturday night just past, i had another of those moments, again with Tatiana. It was so small and so simple, just another moment. But a moment that changed everything...a moment that i know will be etched in my memory along with the rest. Up until this moment, i would describe Tatiana as being extremely shy, almost painfully shy. She is afraid to try new things, wont do anything in front of strangers...a trait which has always driven me crazy about her, so i try and be very patient with it. I don't like to push too hard, but at the same time i want to teach her not to be so afraid of everything. To try new things, to have fun and relax and just enjoy. So i will always gently urge her to give something a go, but will never force her. So on Saturday night, the company that i take my Modern Jive classes from had an Outdoor Dance party in Broadbeach. So basically, they did some free basic classes incorporated with lots of open dancing outdoors in the middle of Broadbeach. I took mum and the kids to have a look with the hopes of getting mum to have a go. As soon as mum realised it was outdoors for all to see (and there was a bit of a crowd) it was all over. She sat on a chair with bag in lap hiding away from any potential invitations to dance. During the beginners class bit, tatiana and i got up and had a go together (just beside where we were sitting, not actually as part of the class. I didn't want to disturb the real class, as it was all adults, no kids) . Now I'm not sure why i did this, maybe because i thought there was no chance of Tatiana EVER saying yes, but i asked her if she wanted to give it a real go and get in the class. Now the reaction i would have normally gotten would have been for her to freak out at just the thought, almost cry, back away and stop dancing all together.  She didn't do that. She didn't say yes either. She just looked over at the class. So i walked her over (still waiting for the protesting to start) and partnered her up with a nice gentleman (still waiting for the NO NO NO!) and stepped back. And to my utter amazement....she started dancing! She started dancing with this man, really trying to get the moves down (and it's not an easy dance, let me tell you) and doing quite well. When it was time to rotate partners i was sure she'd realise what she'd done and come running over, but no....she rotated and danced with her new partner...and just kept going! And she was SMILING and having FUN!

And all of a sudden i realised....it was another of those moments, and in that moment she had grown just a little, she had gained just a little more confidence in her self, believed in her self just a little more, changed just a little... but just enough that she would never be the same again . That moment, those minutes where she danced and smiled and laughed and grew up just that little bit more, will be etched in my memory forever. I felt so many emotions in that moment, joy, pride, happiness, PRIDE, and a little bit of sadness too at the realisation that my baby was growing up so quickly. Too quickly. But mostly, i was proud of her...so very very proud. And to anyone else who witnessed that, it was just another moment, just a child having a bit of fun. But to me, it was a moment that changed both our lives forever...in such a small but extraordinary way.

I love you Berry-girl.

Little Bill and Kodys first Scrapbook Page

Kody, my youngest, made his first layout yesterday. I cut out everything, typed the journalling, and rounded the corners, but he stuck it all down himself. At his Kindy, they have a bear called Little Bill..the class teddy, that gets to go home with each kid for a week. He has a basket of clothes and stuff that goes with him. It's kinda really cute. Afterwards we write about Bills adventures with us, take some pics, and it all goes in a book that the kids can look through at any time. I really love that idea. So this is KOdy's pages from the book...

The pics pretty bad i know...it was taken at night and i am just too lazy to edit it. But u get the idea. He's a little natural, isn't he?

Hardy-Har-Har!

Well 'ello there matey! Today is Pirate Day at the Wright Household, which means that Tatiana and Entoni get to dress up as pirates for school today. They have know about today for about 3 weeks...and have been so excited about getting dressed up. Usually Monday mornings i struggle to get everyone out of bed and ready, but today they were up and dressed before i was even up! *sigh* if only we had more themed school days, lol.

And don't they just make the cutest pirates you've ever seen???

PLease help... i need your info. Again.

Yesterday i sent out an email to all my friends and family about needing their info (addy, phone #'s, email addys...that kinda thing). Then today i spent 4 hours, if not more, updating all my info in my address book (on my puter). I was very proud of my efforts.

Then when i finished, i attempted to sync it to my iphone only TO LOSE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! I was not feeling very proud of anything then.

Yes, you heard me right. I lost it all. All my phone #'s, all my address's, all my email contacts EVERY  *%@!ING THING.

So please, if you are a friend of mine or someone i contact for whatever reason, can you help me (so i can spend another 4 hours doing this all again) by sending me your phone, mobs, email and home address HERE.

Thankyou.

i'm still alive

just a bit behind on my posts for this blog. The kids have been sick for 8 days and still counting...all 3 of them, we've had no oven or stove top for 2 weeks straight, which makes cooking fun (not), and with all the coughing i'm sure i haven't slept for more than 3 hours in a row since the beginning of this month. Can you tell from the pic?

Nice baggage under my eyes.

A day at the museum

Img_6100

Today we went to the GOMA in Brisbane to check out some art. We went to the Art Gallery first and then across to the museum in Southbank. I *love* Southbank. We used to live only 10 minutes from there and would spend most of our weekends hanging out there, and going back there today brought it home how much i miss Brissie. We had so much fun there today, i'll definitely have to plan another trip back soon. They had some fun activities for the kids which included photo-op backgrounds, shadow catchers, and art and craft projects. Unfortunately, the battery on my camera is not so good anymore, so my photos are minimal :(
