A day at the museum

Img_6100

Today we went to the GOMA in Brisbane to check out some art. We went to the Art Gallery first and then across to the museum in Southbank. I *love* Southbank. We used to live only 10 minutes from there and would spend most of our weekends hanging out there, and going back there today brought it home how much i miss Brissie. We had so much fun there today, i'll definitely have to plan another trip back soon. They had some fun activities for the kids which included photo-op backgrounds, shadow catchers, and art and craft projects. Unfortunately, the battery on my camera is not so good anymore, so my photos are minimal :(

After hanging out with the dinasours, we met Bec and her fam for dinner at Monties. I mean seriously, could you ask for a better a to a great day? Good friends and yummy nachos...hmmmm, good stuff.

Wintersun '08

Ahhh....one of my fave events of the year. The Wintersun Festival.
Its all about gorgeous vintage cars and rock n' roll baby! The kids and i went down for a look today. Usually i take an obscene amount of pictures, but this year it was just to hard to manage a pram, a drink and a camera in those crowds. And it was more crowded than normal as they only closed down one road as opposed to the 2 roads they normally close down. But i did take a few snaps....

Then there was the Little Elvis Show. OMG....it was so cute! the girls were just amazing. And so young! (yes, they were actually girls)

Shaz...i forgot to get in contact with you and looked for you while i was there. :(

Overall it was a pretty good day. I mean, we were there for 4 hours...so we obviously had some fun!

So now here i am drinking COFFEE :) and trying to decide what to make for dinner.

We have a picnic planned in the park for tomorrow, but the weathers looking a bit sad. Heres to hoping it clears up by the morning. I love long weekends. Really, i think weekends should always be 3 days long. Makes more sense to me. One day for kids sport activities, one day for family fun and the third just to chill. 2 days is really just never enough, dont u think?

Hmmm, think it's Butter Chicken tonight.

World Environment Day

So Sunday was World Environment Day, and at the Gecko Centre just near our place they always have a fair to celebrate. It was quite small this year, mabey because of the rain. Goodness knows we got stuck in the rain a few times. But that was no prob as we only live 5 minutes away so it was easy for us to race home and get warm. The kids fave part, without a doubt, was going into the animal petting farm. Well, except for Kody, who had no interest in petting strange animals (guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree in this case).

Beau looked so cute in his raincoat. He was just this crazy loud bundle of colour running around, lol.

And while they held the animals...we held the baby :)

After the petting, the kids all got their faces painted...

Dad invited us all out to dinner at Sizzlers afterwards (which i have to admit, the only thing i like there is the toast. Mmmm...that toast. I always eat way to much of it!)

Tash and Natalia. How cute is that smile!!!!

simple...

Tonight was supposed to be boring. It was just me and Kods...so i figured we'd just hand out and watch a DVD together before heading in for an early night. But then Nic decided to drop by with her bubs, and mum and Tash decided to join us for a walk on the beach, which turned into dinner with all of us together at my place. I love those days that *just happen*. That go from nothing special to something special without any planning at all. I guess i just love hanging out with my family.

where the wild things are....

thats where we hung out today. At Currumbin Sanctuary. Now let me just say this before i forget....if you live on the coast and have kids....you really should check out the Dinosaur Exhibition across from the Sanctuary. It's really really small, but i think it's worth the visit.

Now that said.... Nicole (my sil) and i took the kids down to the Sanctuary to have a play. The kids all love it there and it's only 5 minutes from our house. We also have a yearly pass, so i'm not sure why we dont go there more often. Entoni, my ever-animal loving child, thinks this place is a dream come true, lol.

The have this awful giant spider in the playground that used to scare Kody to death, but he seemed to be OK with it this time. ( I, however, am never OK with it).

The kids loved feeding and petting the Kangaroos. There were a couple there with joes in them, and we tried to get a picture...but it just didnt happen.

Then just before we left Nicole and I took pics of each of us with our kids. It was a spur of the moment thing...but i am so glad she suggested it because i rarely think to get a picture with me in it. And i *love* this one :)
