I love Valentines Day . As a kid growing up in the USA, Valentines Day was a big deal . Here, not so much, which is a bit sad. We would make little mail boxes out of shoe boxes, and decorate them. We'd have a one of those mailbox flags on it that would let you know when you have mail. And then we would go home and make little Valentines cards for all our friends at school. On Valentines morning, the teachers would let us put the cards in the appropriate mail boxes, and then we'd get to 'check' our mail later in the day. I used to love that....getting all my valentines. Some cards would say who they were from, others would be from a "secret admirer". I always loved those best....it was such fun trying to figure out who your secret admirer was, knowing that someone out there thought you were special , but not knowing who.
To me, Valentines isn't about the chocolate (i dont like chocolate, anyway), flowers or romance....and it's not just for couples either. It's a day to celebrate those that you love. To take some time from our busy lives to let those special people in our lives know that you love them and appreciate them....whoever/where ever they might be. You dont have to go crazy with flowers or pressies, just a little valentines card will do. Imagine checking your mail on Valentines day and unexpectedly recieving 4 or 5 (or even more, if your lucky!) Little simple Valentines in your mail box. Wouldn't that just make your day? I think that would make my year! So why not take a moment to write a quick note to all those you love, letting them know you think they are special. Dont worry if thier Valentines doesn't land on Valentines Day exactly, i'm sure they will appreciate it just as much the day after, or the day after that. And for those of you who just dont have time to make/buy valentines cards....heres some cute freebies i found.
If anyone out there has any other free links they know about , please email me and i'll add those too!
And for the scrappers out there, i will leave you with some LOVEly layouts from the past to inspire you... (hopefully ;)
