My sister...

...the artist, has just had her first works shown at the Inverse Art Gallery in Burleigh Heads (James St)! I am so proud of her. She has currently just flown to Italy to continue her studies in the Arts...now how cool is that! (you go girl ;) So if your passing by, please drop in and have a look. They (the gallery) actualy have lots of cool stuff, from vinatge and re-made clothing to jewelry to photography to purses... you get the idea, so theres lots to look at.

Its been a rought three weeks for us with a family full of sick kids and one very tired  momma. So i figured we all needed a gentle reminder to keep smiling, thus this weeks quote...

I wanted to digitally add a background to this, but had no idea how to do it. I think the white is just too plain. But mabey one day i'll figure it out and then i can re-post this the way it should be :)

little peoples fashion

I discovered this gorgeous range of childrens clothing from Paper Wings (don't u just love that name?) at Tiny People awhile back, and have been in love with it ever since. Not only are the clothes just stunning, but i love their marketing and photography too. And really, they need to design a range that beautiful for big kids like me... cause i would wear almost every one of their childrens peices if i could, lol.

Now really...are those outfits just divine? I want them, fairy wings and all!

a little card lovin'

I made this card the other day. It's an 'i love you' kinda card. I dont have anyone to give it to so i'm not sure why i made it...but i just had the idea in my head, and i like the way it turned out.

The card was inspired by a canvas i made awhile ago. It's on a kraft card, but in the photos it all looks a bit orangy, sorry bout that.  I really feel like creating today, but i have this amazingly long list of things to do first. Oh, what to do, what to do? Do i ignore my list and happily make stuff all day, or do i get the important stuff done first and hope i still have energy to create tonight. Hmmmm.

Is anyone eles having problems getting onto the etsy site, or is it just me? I've been trying since yesterday and i just cant get on it :(

I finished these canvas's... a special order for my sister-in-laws nursery with butterflys and the colours green and purple being the main theme of the room.

Yes, yes it is :) And i am one happy little chickie :) :)

Unfortunately it's being charged for the next 24 hours, so i have to entertain myself with the box it came in until then. But even that makes me happy (i'm easily pleased, hee hee). I didnt think i would be able to justify getting this phone, but my other phone died like a week before it was released (now is that a sign, or what??) and Optus offers some really good affordable capped plans. Definitely worth checking out if your in the market for a new phone. And just cause i'm a total show off...heres some pics of my gorgeous new addition to the ever-growing apple family in my home.

New Banners and Tuesdays Quote

What do you think of my new banner? It was a happy accident really, and i am very pleased with the result.

So i have challenged myself to post a quote on this blog every tuesday. Not a very hard challenge, if the challenge were just that. But part of the challenge is not to just post a quote, but to hand draw or make it as well. Its a way of getting me to try and practice and become more creative with my own hand writing. When i teach classes i often here people tell me that they can't hand-write, that thier writing is not nice. And if you've ever said this to me, i'm sure you'll remember me telling you that i believe anyone can write beautifully, all you have to do is practice. Same goes for doodling. There is no such thing as 'can't'. So if your one of those people who is a little insecure about thier writing, why don't you give it a go as well. All you have to do is pick one thing ... it doesn't have to be a quote, it can be advice from your mum, or something funny your kids said, even a line from a movie. Anything really. Just pick something and write it, paint it, doodle it, sew it..... whatever! It can have doodling, colour, stickers, felt, fabric, or nothing at all on  it.

There are no rules.
There are no mistakes and no bad ones.
There is just practice and inspiration.

If i get enough participation, i might even set up a gallery  or a fliker group with everyones quotes in it...who knows.
