Better late than never, right?
Its been a busy week round here with 3 sick kids, and one sick mumma (me), but i've finally got a chance to visit my sadly negglected blog now that everyones sleeping in bed :)
So without further adue....heres the Moustache Cup Tute. It's an easy one folk, great for the kids for Fathers Day mabey?
What you need:
pencil or pen
scissors
glue
paper cups
black or brown coloured cardstock
srcap paper (old bill, and envelope...anything will do!)
1. Fold your scrap paper
2. Draw half a moustache
3. Draw a few different style moustaches, if u wish
4. Cut out your moustaches , open up and make any alterations you need to it
5. Fold your coloured cardstock and cut out moustaches using the white one as a template
7. Unfold your moustache and drop a dot of glue in the middle
8. Glue your moustache to your cup and let dry before using
Viola! You are done :)
Simple, right? Now just do it 50 more times! Haha...only kidding. Unless your crazy like me and actually do make ones for every guest at your party (and then some)
;)
Happy Monday!

Tyler had his first birthday last month, and we decided to throw him a big party (cause you know, 1yr olds just LOVE big parties ;) I had all these idea's in my head of what i wanted to do. Thanks to the help of my good friend Bec of RubyJu (thanks sweetie!) we just managed to pull most of those ideas off! I love a friend, who, when your spouting out all these crazy ideas of what you want to achieve in a ridiculously short amount of time, she says "Lets do it!" instead of bringing me back down to earth.
Awesome. Love those kind of friends.
Anywho....so the party is being featured on the Cake Events blog today, which is pretty cool. So if you are coming to this blog from there....Hello! Nice to meet you all :)
I'll be posting a couple tutes on my blog from the party, so keep watching! I should have the first one up later today. But for now, heres some more pics from the party. (They're definitley not as cute as Bec's pics...thanks Bec for all the precious photo's!)
We had a fingerprint tree, where all the guests would sign in with their fingerprint. My friend's husband whipped up the awesome tree in minutes after i panicedly realised i didnt have a tree yet, just as the guests were starting to arrive. Oops...knew i'd forgotten something!
We also had a section set up for guests to leave the birthday boy little notes of wisom/advice for him to read when he was older.
heres some of the notes that made me laugh...
We had a photobooth set up with cute bunting my girlfriend Debbie made for the backgdrop.
Every family got a polaroid taken which they got to take home with them later. In retrospect, i wish i had kept them all so i could have at least made myself a copy. Then i could have sent them out to everybody with Thankyou notes. Theres a tip for you if you ever end up doing the same thing!
Heres some other pics from the day...
and of course, my fave pic of the day....
There was lots of vintage decorations...you can some more great shots of the party HERE and HERE.
and heres some of the food (pics by Bec of RubyJu)...
TJ fell asleep before he got a chance to cut the cake (so to speak) so some of our friends and family missed seeing him get his cake (and eat it too!) as it was quite late when he woke. We made him a smaller version of this pumpkin spice cake to have all to himself. And he was in heaven!
The Mr. thought it would be funny to smear icing all over my face, but as you can see, i think i had the last laugh ;)
A BIG HUGE thanks to my gorgeous friend Bec, my step mother Robyn, and my sweet friend Mel and my family, who all did such a great job in helping me get this party done! Poor Mel had sick kids on the day, so after all her help, she didnt even get to see the end result :(
Thanks for looking!

Taking a break with my copy of the new ikea catalouge and a fresh cup of coffee. I'm planning a trip to the said store this Friday night to get some bits and peices for the house, so it's probably a dangerous thing that there's a new catalouge full of goodies for me to want. My experiences at IKEA thus far have not always been good, and NO... i am not taking a man with me this time (for anyone who remembers this post on my adventures at IKEA without a man).
Crazy, mabey? I'll let you know.
I have been busy jotting down some pretty cool (if i do say so myself.....and i do ;) ideas for Fathers Day. You know, it's just over a week away, and this time i plan to be prepared! So prepared in fact that i'm even planning a tute or 2, so check back next week for some fathers day fun!
(there, now that i put it out there i'm commited! Right? yikes )
And on a totally random note, little by little our house is starting to come together and feel more like a home. Theres so much work to be done (and i'm going to start posting pics of all our befores and afters) that sometimes it feels like we'll never get it all done. But then there's moments i look around and see little areas like this (the view from my kitchen out to the backyard) and i am happy.
He always brings me flowers, and always laughs at how i pull the bouquets apart and put them into seperate little jars all around the house.
( Mind you, these flowers are looking a bit sad. Time for a new bunch i think ;)
Anyway off i go to to read and drink .....

Little Miss Molly (the Mr.'s neice) turned 9 this year. She's really into making things, and mentioned to me she wanted to learn to sew. So for her Birthday this year, i bought her a book for children on making crafty things, and made his a little box of goodies to go with it.
I filled the box with some felt. some pretty fabric, ribbons, thread in different colours, a little jar of buttons and embriodery threads. Then i made a little place for her to store her sewing needles and pins on the top of the box.
It was easy enough to do. I cut out a heart in red felt and glued it to the box. Then i cut out a smaller heart in pink felt, and making sure i ONLY placed glue on the edge of the pink heart, i glued it to the red heart. It would have been much better to sew the pink heart onto the red heart, and then glue it to the lid, but as always, i left it till the last minute and needed to make it quickly. I stuck some pretty pins in and viola!
Since i mostly raided my stash of things to ill the box with, really, my only cost was the book that went with it, and the box itself.
I might have to use this idea again over Christmas i think, I have a few little girls i know of that would love this! Which makes me think....OMG, is it that time already??? Time to start thinking of Xmas gifts already? Really , it's only 17 or so weeks away. Now thats scary!

I love garage sales. Seriously love them. It's almost an addiction. If were driving somewhere and i see a Garage Sale sign, i cant help myself....i'll make everyone late to where-ever we are going just so i can stop and have a peak. Just as i did this weekend. But look at what i scored! Totally worth the late-ness ;)
An old lacy vintage top and a sweet little stove top kettle. That frame with the flowers behind it open up as a box. Dont know what i'm going to do with that yet...but i have some ideas :)
My fave find was this mirror. I cant decide wether to peel those stickers off or not.
Love this Schweppes soda spray bottle and vintage 1/2 pint cream bottle.
The Mr. just laughs at me. Thankgoodnes he's so patient with all my rubbish treasures. At one garage sale there was this vintage hawaiian umbrella, you know the shaggy ones? It was so cute and i really wanted it, but not for the $100 they were asking. Really? It's a garage sale! Thats ok, only 4 more days till the weekend!

Looks like an angel, yes? One would wonder, how could this sweet little thing be in trouble with the law at the ripe old age of one !?! Well let me tell you how...
This sweet little angel decided to pull the phone down and call 000 when i wasn't looking. The he left the phone off the hook, as he wondered off and play with something eles. I'd say the phone was off the hook for a good 1/2 hour at least. It was my friend who noticed and hung it back up later. I was taking out the trash when these two police men came up and questioned me about an emergency call they recived. i realised what must of happened, and told them it was my baby boy who must have called, whilst apologising profusely. Not taking my word for it, they asked to come in and have a look around. After accesing the situation and deciding we were all safe , they let me take a picture of them (will make a great pic for his 18th!) with my little trouble maker.
Makes you wonder how something so sweet could cause so much trouble ;)
