So i found the recipe for these cookies called Momofuku Chocloate chip marshmellow cornflake cookie (what a mouthful!) that sounded simply amazing. Needless to say it wasn't one of those ' whip together' recipes, this recipe entailed more work than usually put into a cookie. But they souunded worthy, so i decided to give them a go..
Lets just say buy the end of this experience, i wasn't calling them 'Momofuku cookies' anymore, but maybe somthing a bit nastier (sounds like......)
I followed the recipe completeley....no ad-libbing here! The batter tasted AMAZING so i was getting super excited to try them.
You make this Cornflake crunch that you add to the batter (probably easier if you make that ahead of time) , but you'll have enough of afterwards to munch on as a snack. Also really super delish!
Once you've got them on the tray you cover them in glad wrap and leave them in the fridge for at least an hour or up to a week. Then bake.
So i did all that. The first lot i pulled out after an hour. Because i was impatient. And hungry. This is what they looked liked when they were done....
Actually, this is the second lot. The first lot had even more cookies on the tray, so you can imagine what that turned out like! One big mother of a baking tray shaped cookie. I may or may not have just eaten that entire cookie on my own. Of course, i peeled it off and threw it in the bin.
So the next lot i left in the fridge for a week. This is what they turned out like....
Can i just say that they look nothing like the promised picture on the recipe!!!!
(see below)
They did , however, still taste amazing. And everyone went crazy for them, flatness and all. But with every tray i baked i kept getting more and more frustrated. Buy the end of it i WASN"T calling them Momofuku Cookies anymore. I had a new name for them (use your imagination people, this is a family-friendly blog here).
So if anyone out there does attempt this recipe with better results....please share your secret! Because i really want to give these cookies another go, but i'm just not sure what i did wrong!
