Although we are not really doing anything special this year, i thought i'd share a few lovely ideas with you. I have a little DIY to share that will literally take only 10 minutes! Also, someone was kind enought to let me know that my old 'Happy Thoughts' journal was being shared on Tip Junkie as a cute little Valentines idea. You can see it here.
If you want a few party ideas, my dear friend and i styled this simple little last-minute party for the kiddies last Valentines Day. And here and here are a few more ideas for Valentines that i posted last year over at RubyJu!
If i had more time i would make this, this, and these! (oh, how i wish i had more time ).
Anywho....heres my super simple DIY Valentine!
What you need....
Paper cups ( I saved my takeaway coffee cups and re-used them)
planting soil
a few small pebbles or rocks
a few small chilli plants
paper or mini tags
twine
pens, scissors and cute tape
Sharpie pen (any colour)
1. Start by grabbing your sharpie pen and writing a love message onto your cup. I just wrote staight onto the cup with my pen, but i know not everyone can do this. So you could always draw it in pencil first ( so you can erase your mistakes), or print a message onto paper and use cute tape to stick it onto the cup.
2. Once you've donr this turn your cup over and with a sharp object ( i used a pencil),carefully poke a few holes on the bottom for drainage.
3. Fill the bottom of your cup with loose rocks or pebbles ( i just found mine in the garden) for more drainage.
4. Pot your Chilli plants into the cups, being careful not to spill to much dirt as you don't wantr to dirty up your message . Unless of course, your message is meant to be 'dirty' ;)
5. If you have pre-made tags then go ahead and write your message on them . On the back of my tags i also wrote a message to please re-pot the Chilli as soon as possible ( as they wont live forever in a paper cup).
6. Grab some twine and attach your tags to your Vday Chillies! You could also grab some cute tape and do some cup decorating....because everything always looks better with cute tape on it!
And there you have it.... a really easy DIY and makes a sweet (or in this case , spicy) little gift for someone special.
ps. if you do make this, please share a link in my comments, i would love to see!

Today was crazy busy getting ready for a little Vday party we were holding for the kids. They loved it! Will post more on that tomorrow. I did manage to sneak it some cuddle time with my VERY NEEDY very cute little man...
Heres one of the things i made for our little party. It's heart bunting...yes i'm sure you've seen it before, it's definitley not an original idea. I, however, dont know how to use a sewing machine, so my buntings hand-sewn (which sounds hard, but is really really easy! Promise!)
Heres what you need:
some twine
pretty paperbook pages...anything you can cut a heart out of :)
needle with a hole large enough to fit twine in
scissors
step 1: cut your hearts out of the papers. You can use a template if you want, but i just wimged it with mine. Adds more character if they're not all the same. I think anyways ;)
Cut out as many as you need. I did 7 strings with 6-7 hearts on each. I did alot because we used it as a photo backdrop.
Step 2: Cut your twine to the desired lenghth. Thread it through the needle but don't double it. Tie a knot at the bottom so your bottom heart doesn't fall off.
Step 3: Thread your twine through the centre of your hearts. I put a hole at the bottom point and the top point. You can use a peice of foam (sit it under the hearts) to poke the holes a little more easily.
Thread as many hearts as you want onto each piece of twine. When your done, just hang them! I was originally going to hang mine from a piece of driftwood that i'd painted white.
Also, for more Valentines ideas, check out my posts here and here.

So my good friend Bec and I have been busy planning a surprise Valentines day party for the kiddies today. I know Valentines is on Tuesday, but we've got school, dance, work....blah blah blah. So Friday it is. Plus, our local park is having a 'Movie night Under The Stars" so we thought it would be fun to end the night at the movies in the park :)
Because it's a surprise, i've been working on all the decorations and bits at night when the kids are asleep.
Never mind my half painted toes.
Because i've been up so late these last few nights, the Mr. has been waking up with TJ so i can have a bit of a sleep-in in the mornings. This morning my gorgeous daughter brought me up a cup of tea....
Theres an idea i've had in my head for years, something i want to do for Valentines....a new tradition to start. Every year i say 'i'll do it this year' and then i always seem to run out of time. I've done it (or not done it) again this year :(
Feeling frustrated at myself....
I do have a cute little Vday tute i plan to post later today...
Anyways, got a full day of getting ready for this little Vday party of ours. Of to bake a cake . Have a lovely friday !

TJ is growing up so fast, it kinda makes me sad. i LOVE the baby-ness. I love everything about it. And i do all the wrong things...i hold him all day long, whenever he wants to be held. I go shopping with my super-duper strider pram, just so i can push my purse in it while Jellybean sleeps in my arms for 2 hours straight. (makes trying on clothes a bit hard, but he REALLY is just too cute to put down). He sleeps in our bed, every night, all snuggled up between mummy and daddy. And yes, the Mr. is just as bad as me...he loves it too! And every time i think i should start putting him in the basssinette, i just have to wake up to his sweet breath on my face, or the humungous grin the appears on his sleepy face every morning when he wakes up and see's me, to know that i'm just not ready for the bassinette yet. He even takes showers with us :) This started when he was too small for the tub we had, and the taps in our sink were to low, so it was just easier to put him in the shower with us. We do give him baths as well, but the shower is still his fave.
(be warned... ridiculously cute baby pics to follow)
Is it bad that i even think he's cute when he cries?
Don't worry....he got his revenge...
Ouch!

Ok, so i finished most of this project, but realised that, with a very demanding but amazingly cute baby, i just couldnt get it all done in the time i had planned. So i have broken it up into 2 parts, accordingly called CD tute part 1 and CD tute part 2.
In Part 1, we complete the CD and the CD cover, and in Part 2 we complete the booklet to go in the cover. I'm probably doing it backwards, but hey. I have always been a bit backwards, so really it just siuts my personality!
So let me start by explaining the story behind the Cd. This was originally meant to be a gift for Mr.A on our anniversary just past, but i just didnt get the time to do it. The thought was there, but not the opportunity. So i told him his pressie was on the way, and that he just had to be patient (and really, Mr.A is and always has been a very patient man. Afterall, he puts up with me. And i KNOW i can be hard to handle sometimes ;)
So i started this project by writing down all the song from this past year that meant something to me. It might be a song that we listend to together during a special moment, or a song that reminded me of him, or a song who's words resonated with me somehow. I chose about 17 songs, all with a specific reason, all from the past year (although when i say this i mean, the songs gained their importance to me in the past year, or had a memory from the past year attached to them. Some of the songs i chose are actually golden oldies from the past) and all to do with him and I. Thus the title 'A Year in Songs'. I'll go more into this in Part 2.
What we are going to do in Part 1 of this tute is create the album cover and decorate the CD.
Ok, so lets start with the CD...
Next, what you need to do is find an old CD cover made from paper or cardboard. You need to make sure it has a place fro your CD and a place to fit your booklet. You can either use this CD cover as a template to create your own new cover form decorative paper (as i did, only because i wanted to keep the cover to use again) or you can just re-cover it with cute paper. Your choice :)
Decorate you cover with writing and cute pictures of yourself, your kids, your pets...
WEll, thats all for my Tute.. Part 1.
Hope you enjoyed it (and by you, i mean the one person who visits my blog....mum? is that you? )
Part 2 will be posted next friday (mabey earlier, if i am super organised! ;)
Have a great weekend!

Had an evening walk along the water back to the hotel.
DAY 2:
Breakkie at Brunswick (i could eat Bean up, he's just that sweet!)
Finders Keepers Markets .. so many great things!
Finished there early and drove to Southbank where they had another craft market on!
Had surprisingly good burgers for lunch.
Rested on a picnic blanket under the trees.
All in all, we had a great time. I spent heaps of money and bought lots of cute things... most of them gifts, so i can't post them :(

Tonight my boy and I had a date at the same restaraunt we had our very first date at (Chilli Spicy Hut in Burliegh). We even sat at the same table :) . I think we may have even unintentionally ordered the same food, haha. However, someone didnt seem to be enjoying the night as much as we were....
And after wards, we drove to B&R for some takeaway ice-cream. A Baskins has now opened 5 minutes from where i live, which could be dangerous for me, as its my one weakness one of my biggest weakness. Hmmm...I wonder how long i can blame my extra weight on post-baby fat? ;)
